Sažetak (engleski) | The SUVAG Polyclinic Library is a specialized library within a scientific institution. It houses various collections, including a Reference Collection, a Doctoral and Master's Thesis Collection, a Periodical Collection, and a Verbotonal Collection. The Reference Collection contains a wide array of resources, such as general and subject-specific encyclopedias, lexicons, dictionaries, handbooks, and specialized materials like atlases, all in print form. In response to changes in access to such sources, the library has provided links to the most pertinent online resources on its website.
The Doctoral and Master's Thesis Collection compiles the theses of SUVAG Polyclinic employees that have been defended at universities in the Republic of Croatia. Given that SUVAG Polyclinic is a scientific organization registered in the fields of biomedicine, humanities, and social sciences (specifically, speech and language therapy), these theses are predominantly defended at the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Philosophy, and Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences. Notably, since 2021, SUVAG Polyclinic serves as the scientific and educational base of the University of Rijeka, allowing students to access the library materials and collections.
The primary purpose of the Doctoral and Master's Thesis Collection is to gather, process, store, and ensure the availability of dissertations and scientific master's theses from the institution's employees. The Periodical Collection comprises a printed collection of older scientific journals, primarily in the fields of biomedicine, speech and language therapy, and phonetics, along with an electronic journal collection subscribed to by the Croatian academic and scientific community through the Ministry of Science and Education.
The Verbotonal Collection holds significant value for the institution's history and ongoing work. It encompasses publications related to the verbotonal theory and method, established by Petar Guberina, the founder of SUVAG Polyclinic. SUVAG Polyclinic is a unique healthcare institution in Croatia and a global center for the development, interpretation, and dissemination of the verbotonal theory and its applications. The Verbotonal Collection includes monographs, conference proceedings, and project documentation published by the SUVAG Polyclinic concerning the verbotonal method, as well as scientific and professional journals issued by the institution and school magazines from the SUVAG Elementary School, providing insight into the work of verbotonal teachers and rehabilitators.
Within the institution's DABAR system repository, there is a virtual collection housing all issues of the internal professional journal "Verbotonal Conversations," which was published from 1995 to 2004. Additionally, the SUVAG Polyclinic's repository includes scientific and professional papers from SUVAG scientists and experts, with the majority being related to the verbotonal method. Over time, the Verbotonal Collection has evolved into a hybrid collection encompassing all scientific and professional productions related to the verbotonal method. Furthermore, the institution publishes monographs closely tied to verbotonal theory and the verbotonal method.
In today's context, electronic resources hold an increasingly vital role in the libraries of hospitals and healthcare institutions. The SUVAG Polyclinic Library combines both print and electronic information sources, procuring print materials from various sources while gaining access to e-resources for scientific and academic institutions in Croatia through the National and University Library. As a registered scientific organization, SUVAG Polyclinic has secured access to the most relevant international databases. By maintaining its collections, the SUVAG Polyclinic Library fulfills its primary role, supporting the professional, scientific, educational, and research activities of the institution's employees. |
